Broken or Chipped Tooth? Same-Day Care in Midtown Manhattan

The No Limits Dental office in Midtown Manhattan

Same-Day Visits During Office Hours

A broken, chipped or cracked tooth never happens at a convenient time. When it happens on a day we are open, call our Midtown office and we will see you the same day. Please call before coming in so we can hold a time for you.

Office hours:

  • Monday: 10:30AM to 7PM
  • Tuesday through Friday: 7AM to 3:30PM

Our 7AM start Tuesday through Friday means many patients have their tooth taken care of before work. If your tooth breaks in the evening or over the weekend, book online for our next opening.

If you have swelling in your face, heavy bleeding, trouble breathing or swallowing, or an injury to your jaw or head, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

What to Do Before Your Visit

  • Rinse your mouth gently with warm water.
  • Save any pieces of the tooth and bring them with you.
  • Hold a cold compress against your cheek to keep swelling down.
  • Chew on the other side and choose soft foods.
  • Cover a sharp edge with sugar-free gum or dental wax to protect your tongue and cheek.

If a tooth is knocked out: pick it up by the white top, not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly with water. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in a cup of milk. Call us right away. A knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved when it is seen within 30 minutes.

How We Repair a Broken Tooth

The right repair depends on how much of the tooth is damaged and where it is. At your visit, your dentist will show you exactly what is happening with your tooth and explain your options clearly. Then you decide what makes the most sense for you.

Every dentist on our team repairs broken teeth, so you can be seen by whoever is available first: Dr. Nadia Rodriguez, Dr. Natan Mulady or Dr. Sherry Zheng.

  • Small chip: tooth-colored composite, shaped and polished to match your natural tooth, often in a single visit.
  • Broken filling or a larger break on a back tooth: a porcelain filling (onlay), custom-made to strengthen what remains of the tooth.
  • Badly broken or cracked tooth: a porcelain crown that covers and protects the whole tooth. If the crack reaches the nerve, a root canal may be needed first.
  • Chipped or worn front teeth: porcelain veneers to restore shape and color.
  • A tooth that cannot be saved: a dental implant that replaces the tooth from the root up.

Signs of a Cracked Tooth

Not every break is easy to see. Call us if you notice:

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold that was not there before
  • Discomfort when you bite down or release your bite
  • A sharp or rough edge your tongue keeps finding
  • A filling that feels loose or has fallen out

The sooner a cracked tooth is treated, the simpler the repair usually is.
